There are numerous online stock brokers and they have various fee structures. We will be describing the fees associated with the various online stock brokers.  Online stock brokers generally charge a set amount per trade.  This fee can range from a promotional free offer up to about $20 depending on the broker.

The fee schedule is slightly different for those trading options.  Options generally have a set price per trade plus a designated price for each contract that is bought or sold.  This means trades with numerous contracts will be more expensive then trades for one contract.

Finding the right online stock broker will take some research to find the broker with the best fee schedule to match their needs.  For example, if someone is going to be trading hundreds or thousands of contracts they may want to pick a broker that offers a flat fee per trade and does not charge per contract.
